Harvard Glee Club Sesquicentennial Concert
On the night of April 11, 2008 at 8 PM, the Harvard Glee Club will be performing in Sanders Theatre in celebration of its 150th Anniversary. First, the Glee Club will combine with the Radcliffe Choral Society, the Harvard-Radcliffe Collegium Musicum, and a professional orchestra of the highest caliber to bring you Stravinsky's Symphony of Psalms which the Glee Club and Choral Society premiered with the Boston Symphony Orchestra on December 19, 1930 under Serge Koussevitsky. After the intermission the Glee Club will sing the repertoire that has made them famous the world over. The folk-songs, renaissance polyphony, and other gems of the Glee Club repertoire will be complemented by the world premiere of Dominick Argento's Apollo in Cambridge, a setting of three texts by Harvard poets: Longfellow, Holmes, and Lowell. This work was commissioned by the Harvard Glee Club Foundation for the Glee Club in honor of its Sesquicentennial. Following the concert will be a reception to celebrate the Glee Club's 150th Birthday. Tickets are available at the Harvard Box Office online or by calling (617) 496-2222.
